Pastoral Resident

Carey Julien

Carey was born in New York, but spent the majority of his life in Florida. He surrendered his life to Christ as a junior at Liberty University, where he received his Bachelor's degree in Business Marketing. A couple of years later, God gave Carey a deep-seated passion to work in ministry, leading him to receive a Master’s degree in Biblical Counseling at Luther Rice Seminary. Shortly afterward, Carey left Florida to partake in a year-long pastoral residency at McLean Bible Church. That season of life gave him more in-depth insight into music leading, scriptural study, and event planning at a mega-church. As the residency came to a close, God provided Carey the opportunity to apply his experience at the opposite end of the spectrum with Pillar Church D.C., a church revitalization between Mclean Bible Church and the Praetorian project. God brought along Carey's wife, Erin in the midst of that season and they married within a year of courtship. They also had a son during the mid-point of the pandemic named Micah. God used that time at the church revitalization to give them passion towards church planting. That ultimately led them to leave Pillar Church D.C. and join Pillar Church Dumfries to partake in a church planting residency to further advance God's kingdom!
